So it took me a little longer to post this than I thought it would. I got caught up in the 58th New York Film Festival virtual screenings, which were a ton of fun. But now that's over, so I'm trying to get back to sharing regular breakdowns. As I mentioned previously, I've been doing narrative breakdowns of films on a regular basis with the hosts of Podcast 241 Donavon Thompson and Daniel Wingfield. I've posted my breakdowns for our previous discussions of Atomic Blonde and Batman Begins, so here's the belated breakdown to accompany our podcast of The Dark Knight.
Sorry in my comment I forgot to ask regarding this episode and the podcast...your link doesnt take us to the episode and I couldnt find it myself... maybe you have the link?
Hi Vega! Thanks for letting me know about the link. The hosts of the podcast changed their name from 241 Podcast to Reel Therapy, so I think that made the links just go to their hime page. I've fixed them now.
Hello i just discovered your blog and I just wanted to say that I like it a lot! It is super interesting that you can divide movies through breakdowns (sorry it might be pretty logic but I never thought of it) Maybe you could write sometime how we could do the same, I mean of course I read your instructions on the breakdowns... but maybe actually teaching how to do it? with more details?
Anyway, this movie got me angry, TOO MANY things very fast and some as you said without any sense.
Thanks Vega! I'm glad you appreciated the post and hope you find some of the others useful as well. It's really hard to learn how to do these breakdowns--it just takes watching lots of movies and thinking through how they work. Having said that, there is a method and a set of steps you can take to try to do these types of breakdowns, so sometime in the future I'll try to post a "How To" that might be useful! Thanks for reading!
