Production Design in Jim Jarmusch's Only Lovers Left Alive
I've been re-watching one my favorites lately: Only Lovers Left Alive. As I was recently discussing with a friend, OLLA is one of those movies that, regardless of plot, sucks you in because of the amazing world it creates. The tone is cool and mysterious, and if you turn it in on late at night in the pitch dark, you can imagine you exist in the same world as the two lover-vampires Adam and Eve. It's a world I happily enter whenever I get the chance.
OLLA takes place in two cities: Detroit and Tangiers. The production design by Marco Bittner Rosser, Art Direction by Anja Fromm and Anu Schwartz, Costume Design by Bina Daigeler, and Cinematography by Yorick Le Seaux all contribute to creating the romantic desolation of the movie.
