Nicholas cage is smarter than you think he is
There are probably as many opinions about Nicholas Cage as there people who have an opinion on Nicholas Cage (maybe even more). And we all know the memes, crazy roles, and surreal life that define our perception of him. But despite the oddities, Cage has established himself as one of the busiest, most thoughtful, and most boundary pushing actors working today.
The New York Times features a great interview by David Marchese (actually a combination of two interviews), in which Cage reveals lots of interesting tidbits about his movies, but also displays that he is an engaged, thoughtful and experimental actor:
Have animals ever influenced your acting? The cobras, definitely. They would try to hypnotize you by going side to side, and when I did “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance,” that’s something my character does before he attacks. Animals are fun places to get inspiration. Actually, I thought Heath Ledger was doing some reptilian stuff as the Joker, with the tongue darting out all the time.
Cage has made 23 movies in the past three years. Talk about a real life Master Class...
